Obituary of Sarah Lacy:
Mother Lacy was born in Connecticut. She emigrated to New York in Youth; and when 21 years of age
was married to Joseph Lacy. About this time she also gave her heart to God and continued to live a
faithful and consistent Christian life from that time until the day of her death.
She died, as she lived, and when the last moment came she was heard to speak the words,--"Happy!
Happy!"
"Mother, rest from sin and sorrow;
Death is o'er, and life is won;
On thy slumber dawns no morrow,
Rest, thine earthly race is run."
Her funeral services took place in the Union Baptist Church. The writer improved the occasion by
speaking from Job, 14, 20--"Thou changest his countenance, and sendest, him away!"
She leaves an aged husband and 5 children to mourn her loss.
